Holy Trinity Food Bank Volunteer Honored
One of St Vincent de Paul- Holy Trinity Bloomington’s volunteers, Craig Baker, was recently honored with the Community Service Award presented by the Illinois State Association of the National Association of Letter Carriers.
Craig began volunteering at our pantry in the fall of 2018 shortly before we signed papers to move the pantry from the Parish Center to our new location, formerly the Corpus Christi/Holy Trinity Junior High. He became involved in the remodeling of the building- including building tables on wheels, putting up shelving as well as anything else which needed to be done.
Craig is from the area and graduated from Illinois State in Industrial Technology. He worked building houses with a local contractor for several years and credits that experience as the way he learned to use tools without being afraid to use any of them. He then became a mail carrier, the position from which he retired.
He currently runs pallet jacks and our power pallet stacker and organizes the movement of many pallets of food and other materials we receive. He also involved his daughter from the west coast in the redesign of our website. He continues as a selfless and dedicated volunteer in our operation of serving others.
